Synopsis of “Heart of a Warrior”

In a world of elves, elemental spirits and undaunted knights lives Feredir. Born as a prince, he learns to walk as a knight (Roquen) at the tough Military School of Dinas Tirion. Only at the end he will become a warrior, but not before passing through Evil. He must renounce the woman he loves who grew up with him since childhood (Eriel) in order to follow the dictates of his family. He will try to retrace his own steps, but it will be too late.

He finds on his road the Elemental Spirits, beings lacking souls that yearn to have one: they can achieve it only by marring a human being with a pure heart.
This will find its expression in the person of Maurrien, daughter of Myrdyryd, queen of the kingdom of Raamalooke (the Winged Dragon); the encounter will signal for Feredir the beginning of interior struggle, diverting him from his path.

Wardbak the Bard, an enigmatic and ethereal character, becomes Feredir’s mentor: with his words he will try to help him, following his path without however interfering.
He will follow him in the most difficult moments, always on tiptoes, leaving him free to commit his own mistakes. The gifts he gives to him (a ring and a vial containing magic water) will be instruments to achieve, in due time, wisdom and faith.

“Heart of a Warrior” is the growth of a man through longed-for but never reached things, loves never lived and those lost. It is the attaining of wisdom and faith, obtained at high price: through errors, suffering and emotional loss, but also through the understanding of the value of friendship and the discovery of universal love. It is a  journey of initiation for a man who appreciates people upon meeting them, gaining always an experience of growth. For this reason, perhaps, Feredir is the symbol of man himself, capable of heroic acts, but also of betrayal and bad actions.
